Dear Brothers, We all know of the crisis in Japan and we are proud that among us there are 2 brothers who are Japanese. Every Nation has certain traditions and values. It is in such times that those values are tested. I heard a story about a 9 year old Japanese boy who lost his family in tsunami . He was cold and hungry but when he was given extra food, he refused and wanted to share with the other people in the line. Here are few lessons learned from Japan.
Not a single visual of chest-beating or wild grief. Sorrow itself has been elevated.
Disciplined queues for water and groceries. Not a rough word or a crude gesture.
People bought only what they needed for the present, so everybody could get something.
No looting in shops. No honking and no overtaking on the roads. Just understanding.
Fifty workers stayed back to pump sea water in the N-reactors. How will they ever be repaid?
Restaurants cut prices. An unguarded ATM is left alone. The strong cared for the weak.
When the power went off in a store, people put things back on the shelves and left quietly.
